Videonations Drives Delivery of Impressive Video Wall for Transport for London’s New Integrated Traffic Control Centre

The Completion of a Spectacular Free Standing Video Wall in Europe’s Newest Traffic Control Centre, completes a Four Month Videoconferencing and Audio Visual Installation Project Carried out by Videonations in Partnership with Fujitsu.

Manchester, UK 21 April 2010 – Videonations, a leading videoconferencing and audio visual integrator is pleased to announce the completion of an audio visual design and installation project for Transport for London’s new Surface Transport and Traffic Operations Centre (STTOC) in partnership with Fujitsu Services. Fujitsu Services is the incumbent IP data management providers for TfL and Videonations is Fujitsu’s approved video conferencing and audio visual partner.
STTOC is a 24/7, 365 days a year control centre, dedicated to the management of TFL’s road and bus network and coordination of a range of resources to maintain the operational efficiency of the network.
Videonations installed and equipped four dedicated training and situation suites with a range of interactive technology and large LCD displays, positioned strategically at STTOC before focusing on the delivery of a high tech 4×3 multi-faceted video wall.
The video wall is built from 12 NEC ultra-thin bezel LCD displays mounted on a bespoke free standing structure. It projects real time CCTV, live TV and PC content with audio, from the thousands of video and data feeds that make up the capitals traffic network. The Dexon Video Wall processor is the engine behind selecting and viewing traffic feeds in an instant and all the associated audio visual equipment is housed within a custom designed cabinet matched to TFL’s existing furniture.
Richard Madden, Specialist AV Projects Manager at Videonations adds, “The challenge was to design a solution that combined a central showpiece as well as a fully functional multi team control display. I’m pleased to say that this has been achieved. The video wall physically dominates the room while being an important aspect of STTOC’s day to day operations. So impressive is the giant canvass that local news teams regularly use it as a backdrop for their live reports.”
